What to Expect - Initial Consultation
IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE TREATMENT I OFFER IS MUCH MORE THAN JUST A MASSAGE!!
MY PRIMARY AIM IS TO REDUCE INJURY AND REHABILITATE POST INJURY
PRIOR TO MY ARRIVAL
- Book your appointment and give contact details of your vet (see below)
- I will obtain ‘Veterinary Permission’ from your vet to treat your horse (Veterinary Act 1966)
- I will email you a ‘Consultation Form’ which must be completed BEFORE the appointment. This comprises of a few simple questions to enable me to build a picture of the management and care of your horse, therefore helping us solve any problems together
ARRIVAL
- I will look at the horse’s conformation and make notes
- I will ask the horse to be walked and trotted as a minimum requirement and may ask to see it lunged or ridden. This often depends on the level of treatment desired and can be discussed prior to the appointment
- Using all the information I have been given, as well as my findings from touch, feel and sight throughout the treatment, I will discuss a plan with you to improve the health and happiness of your horse. This may include stretches and other homework; discussions with your vet, farrier, dentist, instructor, saddle fitter or another member of your team.
- I will assess and make notes of the horse’s personality and the owner’s requirements/workload for the horse, to enable me to offer the best service for you both
SUBSEQUENT VISITS
You will find that most horses require very little adaption to make a vast difference to their general health, well-being and ability.
After the initial consultation and on any subsequent visits, I will monitor improvements and adjust further management as necessary.
